long ago, and far away

January 24, 2016 12 Comments

long ago, and not so long ago
all of this seemed possible
I thought to myself
that I could be a writer
you know, make a real go of it
sometimes, on sunrise mornings
even saying so– out loud
tho, I’d been alone
at the time

I’ve thought about this idea a lot, and one thing that has really helped me is realizing that I don’t have to be published to be a writer. It’s strange that we hold ourselves to that sometimes. I mean, sure, the goal is to be published, but van Gogh sold maybe two paintings in his lifetime, but he was still a painter because he painted! That’s the same with people like us. We may have had a few things published here and there, but we should never stake our identities on that because sometimes being published is more about knowing people than writing something worthwhile (take any number of pop culture romance novels, for example).

Anyway, I’m not saying you don’t know this, but someone might need to hear it ?.

    Life is good.

    Keep writing!

Thank you, Samuel. Interesting that Van Gogh only sold two paintings. I hadn’t known that. I suppose I was thinking about having to go back to work on Monday, at a job which most decidedly does not include any writing at all ๐Ÿ˜‰ Again, I appreciate you taking the time to offer some kind words. Be well.

John, thank you. I won’t stop. This was just a quick write of whatever seemed to be on my mind at the time. Fortunately, I have plenty of other things on my mind as well. As always, the kind words are appreciated.

Keep writing! You can only get better and get more works to publish. I am also facing a similar issue .Cheer up , one day you will look upon these set backs as lessons that lead to a greater purpose. ๐Ÿ™‚
