beautiful things

two astride, as the trail is wide
at the narrow, we divide
I fall behind, you think it kind
walking ahead, to scent a flower you find
rustling within shadow’s gloom
as you enjoyed June’s full bloom
hungry eyes, consumed of fiery glow
though, in your purity, you didn’t know
there were things back there
of which you’d been unaware
I’ll do battle with the leathery wings
while you enjoy the beautiful things

  1. I like this side of you, too! Still has the shadowed drama so familiar in your work, but the rhyming meter makes it wistful, whimsical and romantic…

Overall, I think I will go with “enchanting” as my word of choice here…

    Nicely done, Eric! 🙂
